Having some days when our skin feels dry as dust is expected. However, what about when our skins are always dry? It sure doesn’t feel comfortable either. It is the most appealing of looks, so naturally, we don’t like it. So what steps can we take to reduce dry skin? Here are a couple of things you can do today!
Get Some Moisture On
Dry skin is often due to the skin being insufficiently moisturized. So, a very significant step is to nourish your body with moisturizers. Treat your skin with moisturizers often and this, in turn, helps add extra moisture to your skin and helps lock it in. The moisturizers chosen should be mild and gentle on the skin.
Be More Intentional With Your Bath Routines
For some, bathing is an elaborate process involving many different products, from soaps, perfumes to bath oils; others prefer it to be a more straightforward affair. However you like it, ensure that the bath products you use are not harsh on the skin as this may irritate it and cause it to get dry. While many look forward to a period spent relaxing in a hot bath, this may not be in the best interest for your skin. Opt for warm baths and restrict your bath periods to less than ten minutes. Too much water, especially hot water on the skins, can dry the skin, especially by negating the effect of the oily substances the skin secretes to Moisturize itself.
Use Gentle, Free Fabrics
The kind of clothing we put on regularly can play a crucial role in determining the texture of our skin. If you regularly wear thick, rough clothing that isn’t gentle on your skin and hardly allows it to breathe, your skin can get irritated and dryer. So, opt for softer, freer fabrics that are good on your skin and reduces dryness.
Use Humidifiers
Staying in a dry air environment for an extended period can cause our skins to dry out if you have to stay in one, such as when in your homes and workspaces, protect your skin by using a humidifier. Humidifiers are designed to add moisture to the air, and one of the advantages of this is that the air doesn’t get to dehydrate your skin.
Treat Skin Conditions If Present
Several skin conditions, such as dermatitis, psoriasis, and others, can cause your skin to become dry and cracked. It is crucial, where necessary, to discuss treatment options for these skin conditions with your doctor and which one best suits you.
Reduce Contact With Irritant Substances
When we come in contact with them, many substances cause our skins to get irritated and dry, including strong chemicals, allergens, etc. Contact with them should be minimized as much as possible.
Healthy Diet And Supplements
Nourishing your skin is an excellent way to improve its quality. Choose a healthy diet and boost it with supplements to make up for possible nutritional deficiencies. Foods you can introduce into your skincare diet include tomatoes, oats, beans, etc. One supplement I would especially recommend based on my personal experience with it is the Belixz Maqnifiq Collagen drink, which contains collagen, an important protein required for healthy skin formation.
